Review : Gave This One Time and It's Pretty Damn Good
After returning the ASUS Vivotab Smart Tablet because of weird and unexplained quirks and failures, I ordered this one because of the more traditional specs and full-blown Windows 8. After some software anomalies in respect to Windows Update, (it doesn't tell you the progress of the downloads and installation which makes you think nothing is happening), but everything else worked fine. I was very disappointed in the description of this unit when Amazon failed to mention that THIS model DID NOT have Bluetooth (I just assumed it did). Not a problem though because I ordered the Kinivo BTD-400 Bluetooth Adapter, plugged it in, and the software automatically downloaded (Windows 8), and this thing grabbed Bluetooth devices I didn't know I had!

It is not a perfect little machine by any means but damn it's good. I have had astronomically more good and surprisingly good experiences with it than disappointments. Wireless works well and fast. Boot up is fast! Touch screen works very...

Review : Beautiful hardware ruined by poor software - Update 2: First problem fixed, hopefully more fixes on the way
I bought this laptop a couple of days ago and so far, I can't really recommend it. Hardware-wise this is exactly what I was looking for. Built quality is close to perfect, the screen is beautiful, it stays cool and quiet, the speakers are the best I ever had in a laptop and last but not least: it seems to be capable of 8-9 hours max on battery.

But at the moment, all of this doesn't really matter. Because Samsung and Microsoft worked tirelessly to ruin this device on the software side of things. It is one thing that the scaling still kind of sucks after an update to Win 8.1, but what really makes me rate this one down is the driver situation. I bought this laptop several months after it was released. And I have encountered annoying bugs before and after the update to Windows 8.1.

Examples:
- the adaptive screen dimming does not work. Instead, it makes the screen flicker ALL the time. Had to disable it.
- the colors change when on battery. Yellow becomes...

Review : Amazing, am shocked how it far outperforms my older Macbook Air
Working off formerly a 13" macbook air mid 2011, I just bought this new 2013 model with the Haswell CPU and low power consumption infrastructure.

Off a full charge, I disconnected 3 hours 40 mins and had an external drive connected the entire time, restarted 4 times, and did NONSTOP heavy application installs (Office suite, Photoshop etc.), a total of 23 applications, and ran youtube vids in the background the entire time, and after all of that nonstop heavy loading, I had 76% on my battery, of which id have around 35% on my older Macbook Air.

Further still, the entire unit has run UTTERLY COOL during this EXTREMELY heavy loading, installing and heavy 1080P video graphics play. My other Macbook Air would be almost too hot to touch underneath near back under same conditions.

Even without 802ac (new Wifi connection thru the new Air), I notice roughly 25% faster throughput on likewise file downloads using my new Macbook Air than that of my older version...

Review : A very good computer with a few drawbacks at a very good price

My background: I'm a gadget geek but I'm not super devoted to any platform. I do love Google's web products but never used their hardware. My laptop is a 13" MacBook Pro and my desktop is a Mac Mini that runs both OS X and Windows 7 (I spend more time on Win 7 these days). I have an iPad (3rd gen) and Motorola Droid Razr Maxx along with a docking station. My wife has a Win 7 ultrabook, Kindle Fire HD and Razr Maxx, all of which I purchased for her.

I'm an editor for a web-based publication so my usage is primarily writing and some light (very light) image editing. I've done most of my writing on Google Docs for a long time because it automatically saves and I hate writing directly into the CMS. We also use Google Apps Business for e-mail, calendaring and doc sharing so that rocks.

The last thing I need is another computer but Chromebook called to me. A couple of reasons:
